How it works: DHA (dihydroxyacetone), the spray-tanning agent we use, reacts with the top layer of your skin to create your sunless tan. You and your friend won’t have the exact same result, because the tanner mixes with your unique skin tone to create your tan. You’ll turn a similar shade of bronze to what you would if you tanned in the sun but without the skin damage.

Keep in mind that when it comes to DHA, more is not necessarily better. If a spa therapist applies too much solution to the skin, it’s like applying two coats of cosmetic foundation to the face. It just doesn’t look natural. Even if you think you don’t know what we’re talking about, we do. You’ve seen the mishaps around town or on the red carpet. We won’t name names.
